Fake Instagram Password Recovery Site Stealing Logins

A fake website is pretending to be an Instagram password recovery page to trick people into handing over their login details. Children and teens who use Instagram are common targets for this type of scam.

What to do: Warn your children never to enter their Instagram password on any site other than instagram.com, and remind them that real password resets only come through the official app or website.

What this means for your family

If your kids use Instagram, they might see a fake login page that looks real but actually steals their password. Teach them to only enter passwords directly in the Instagram app or at instagram.com itself, and to be suspicious of links in messages or emails asking them to "verify" their account. If they accidentally enter their password somewhere, let them change it right away through the real Instagram app.
